Abstract: This case study proposes a definition of data scientists’ roles in research and industry. It firstly describes key outputs of the H2020-funded EDISON project that developed a Data Science Framework, typical job profiles and a Programme template to train future data scientists. The second half of the case study is dedicated to the implementation of this Data Science Programme, and its RDM strand, at the University of Amsterdam. It shows how the EDISON Framework can provide a strong background for designing customisable Data Science programmes in several disciplines.
